Ah, You Short-Circuit All My Nerves!

I love rainy days! I'm an absolute sucker for delicious and dream cushion tunes, and Smokey Robinson isn't exactly helping. As if this song didn't already make me want to disappear under comforters, his androgynous voice is perfect for whisper-singing between pillows and sheets.

There's a hot-chocolatier Groove Boutique remix to this that I can't find. It's on the Motown Remixed Vol. 1 compilation album with another Smokey Robinson song, "The Tears of a Clown" and the sexiest version of Marvin Gaye's "Let's Get It On" I've ever heard (yes, it gets sexier!)

Smokey Robinson, "Quiet Storm"
Soft and warm
A quiet storm
Quiet as when flowers talk at break of dawn,
Break of dawn
A power source
Of tender force
Generatin', radiatin',
Turn me on, turn me on

You short-circuit all my nerves
Promising electric things
You touch me and suddenly there's rainbow rings

Quiet storm, blowin'
Through my life
Oh, quiet storm, blowin'
Through my life
Blow, baby

Windy sigh,
Weaken my
Butterfly caught up in a hurricane,
Hurricane
Lucky me,
I'm better free
Suddenly I'm caught up in your somber rain

Shower me with your sweet love
I will bathe in every drop
Through all the seasons let it pour and never stop

Quiet storm, blowin'
Through my life
Through my life
You're just like a quiet storm, blowin'
Through my life
Through my life
Through my life
Through my life
Through my life
Blowin'
Blowin'
Blowin'
Blowin'

Hail soft storms of love on me
Let them play on my desire
Kiss me softly
Let your lightning light my fire

Quiet storm, blowin'
Through my life
Through my life
You're just like a quiet storm, (blowin')
Blowin', blowin'
(Through my life)
Through my life
Through my life
(Quiet storm, blowin'
Through my life)
Quiet storm, (blowin')
Oh yeah

Shower me with your sweet love
I will bathe in every drop
Through all the seasons let it pour and never stop

Quiet storm, blowin'
Through my life
Through my life
You're just like a quiet storm, (blowin')
Warm and tender
(Through my life)
Oh, through my life
Quiet storm

Kanta Ang Panlaban album launch

It was two Fridays ago that my friends, the Hansom boys, launched their much-awaited album, Kanta ang Panlaban. It was a long-time coming, and I love these guys as both musicians and friends. So when they randomly asked us on Facebook to come wearing fatigue to solidify their Hansom army, I was only more than happy to oblige.

As it turns out, I was the only one. Haha! Their other fans came wearing Hansom shirts, but being the lone army soldier, I was awarded the opportunity to sing "Mamatay Ka Na" with them, like old times. Except this was their album launch and I know how much this means to them. I'm only too honored to have been invited. :)

Come to their next album launch in a few months to get a CD! But while you wait, you can download the first part of their album here.

The First Fans

While it took me a while to reel from last Thursday's gig, which I have to say was probably one of the top 3 gigs we've ever played, I woke up to this today:

Being the perennially fledgling band that we are, we really just play for fun. Our song-writing process is slow, but we're working on it, and we absolutely enjoy paying homage to the great music that we love. I've taken as a fact that probably 95% of our fanbase is composed of family, friends, and family and friends who have never heard us play but are required by the laws of friendship to enjoy us. Rarely is there a sincere, genuine appreciator of who we are and what we do.

I'm glad to see we might be doing something right. :D
